ANNOUNCEMENT
Vibe Check Project
YOTA partnered with the King’s Trust International (KTI) to pilot the UK charity’s new digital learning programme – Vibe Check. Vibe Check is an interactive WhatsApp-based learning platform developed by KTI as part of its mission to support young people in their journey from education to employment. The platform builds on the organisation’s existing work across the Commonwealth and aims to reach young people with information and support in soft skills areas including confidence, self-esteem, managing money, and setting self-employment goals. These are all areas where young people have said they struggle in, and which hold them back from reaching their full potential.
Vibe Check works by inviting young people to sign up to receive on-demand educational information in written and audio-visual formats. Users are able to anonymously select and study new topics, send their questions to experts, and suggest new areas of learning. With tips and advice “to become the best you”, Vibe Check encourages youth to believe in themselves, communicate well, and manage their feelings – positively impacting societies and economies.
The pilot phase focused on the University of Ghana, Wisconsin International University College, and All Nations University, where more than 1,000 students participated in youth employment forums to kickstart the Vibe Check process. Across the three campuses, 760 students who completed the Vibe Check modules were invited to a targeted Career Fair where YOTA facilitated a mix of employment matchmaking, employer presentations, and career planning masterclasses. This demand-driven approach ensured that many students received on-the-spot internships, national service, and industrial attachment offers. In a participant evaluation performed at the end of the pilot, 94% of students across the three campuses said they felt better prepared for their journey to employment than they were prior to participation in Vibe Check.
