The Youth Opportunity and Transformation in Africa (YOTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth inclusion in governance processes through its participation in a high-level capacity-building workshop on the Constitutional Reform Committee (CRC) report.

The workshop, hosted by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) in Koforidua from 9 to 12 March 2026, brought together youth leaders and civil society organisations (CSOs) to deepen their understanding of the CRC’s findings and recommendations. YOTA was represented by its Skills and Innovation Lead, Mr. Eric Saforo, who joined other stakeholders to engage on critical national reform issues.

The capacity-building session focused on equipping youth leaders and CSOs with the knowledge and tools needed to actively contribute to discussions around constitutional reforms in Ghana. Participants examined key proposals within the CRC report, including governance reforms, aimed at strengthening democratic accountability and inclusivity.

The youth leaders at the workshop rallied behind proposals such as lowering the presidential age requirement to 30, highlighting the growing demand for increased youth participation in leadership and decision-making processes.

YOTA’s participation in the workshop presents a strategic opportunity to further integrate governance and civic engagement into its programming. Insights from the session will inform the design of new initiatives aimed at amplifying citizens’ voices, particularly those of young people, in the constitutional reform process.

As Ghana continues to navigate its constitutional reform journey, YOTA remains committed to ensuring that young people are not only informed but actively involved in shaping the country’s future.

Through strategic advocacy, capacity building, and partnerships, YOTA will continue to champion inclusive governance and youth participation at all levels.
